On 23rd August 2010, the world was transfixed as a dismissed police officer hijacked a bus of tourists in the heart of Manila. The hijacker, Rolando Mendoza, was a former police officer who believed he was unfairly dismissed from his job and demanded to be reinstated. What ensued during the next 12 hours, was a battle of wills between Mendoza and the local police which ended in the tragic deaths of 8 of the 15 Hong Kong tourists on the bus.
